Secondary: Debating Lunch

Our Secondary Debating Team gathered in the ICOM Main Briefing Room this week for a well-deserved celebration lunch, marking the conclusion of an impressive 2025 debating season. The event honoured students who participated in three major competitions throughout the year: the Schools' Debating Competition, Wynspeak, and PESA.

Beyond recognising competitive achievements, the celebration highlighted the remarkable teamwork, personal growth, and unwavering dedication our debaters demonstrated to the craft of public speaking and argumentation.

Season Highlights

The 2025 season saw multiple team members advance to the play-offs stage of competition, a testament to the skill and preparation our students brought to each debate round. Their success reflects countless hours of research, practice sessions, and constructive feedback sessions with peers and mentors.

A Community Effort

This year's achievements were made possible through the collaborative support of our debating captains, Student Support Coordinators (SSCs), and the Secondary Education Committee. Their behind-the-scenes work in organizing training sessions, arranging transportation, and fostering a culture of respectful dialogue created the foundation for student success.

As we close out another year of competitive debating, we celebrate not just the trophies and accolades, but the critical thinking skills, confidence, and respectful discourse our debaters will carry forward into their academic and personal lives. Congratulations to all participants on a season well done!
