Principal's Message
Words from the College Principal, Issue 7, Term 3, 2025.
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Alhamdulillah, as we breeze through Term 4, we reflect with immense gratitude and pride on the many achievements, milestones and memorable experiences that have enriched the learning journey of our students across both Primary and Secondary Schools. So far, this term has been a true celebration of academic growth, character development and community spirit, all anchored in our shared Islamic values.
Our Primary School has been a hive of energy, curiosity and discovery. Earlier this term, our Year 6 cohort embarked on an unforgettable educational adventure to Canberra, where they experienced the heart of our nation’s democracy firsthand. From exploring Parliament House and the Museum of Australian Democracy to visiting the Australian War Memorial, students gained valuable insight into Australia’s civic life, leadership and history. Beyond the academic focus, the camp was also a journey of personal growth, fostering independence, teamwork and resilience.
We couldn’t be prouder of our Primary ISS Girls Cricket Team, who delivered an outstanding performance at the Wyndham Division Cricket Finals, proudly bringing home the championship pennant. Their teamwork, discipline and enthusiasm shone throughout the competition. This achievement stands as a testament to their dedication and sportsmanship, and we are incredibly proud of their success.
The annual ICOM Book Fair added a wonderful buzz of excitement to the term, transforming our College Library into a vibrant atmosphere of reading, imagination and discovery. The space came alive with thousands of books for every interest, from Islamic titles and inspiring biographies to engaging fiction and creative activity books. Students eagerly explored the shelves, finding joy in discovering new stories and sharing recommendations with friends. A special highlight of the week was our Book Fair Parent Evening, which brought together families and students in a warm community atmosphere centred around the love of books and lifelong learning.
In Secondary School, our students have continued to excel across academic and extra-curricular domains. The SAP Public Speaking Competition once again provided a platform for our Secondary Accelerated Program students to demonstrate their eloquence, confidence and creativity. Through prepared and impromptu speeches, students showcased their ability to communicate with clarity and conviction, embodying the courage to speak with purpose and authenticity in an increasingly digital world.
The Secondary Debating Team also came together to celebrate an exceptional year of achievement. From the Schools’ Debating Competition to Wynspeak and PESA, our debaters demonstrated critical thinking poise, and teamwork, supported by our committed staff and student captains. Their success reflects ICOM’s dedication to nurturing articulate, thoughtful young leaders who can engage in respectful and reasoned dialogue.
One of the spiritually uplifting moments of the term was the visit of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Essa El-Ma’sarawi, esteemed Qur’an scholar and former Grand Sheikh of the Egyptian Qurra’. His wisdom and recitation inspired both students and staff, reminding us that sacred knowledge is a light that guides and elevates the heart. It was an honour to host such a respected guest, and we pray that his message continues to inspire our students to deepen their relationship with the Qur’an.
Amongst all the excitement and energy, we experienced a bittersweet moment earlier this term when we bid farewell to our Year 12 Class of 2025. Their journey at ICOM has been marked by perseverance, dedication and faith. We could not be prouder of all that they have accomplished, and as they now prepare to sit their final examinations, we wish them the very best and make sincere du’a for their continued success. May Allah (SWT) grant each of them excellence in their studies, fulfilment in their endeavours and steadfast Iman in all that lies ahead. We pray that they carry forward the values of integrity, compassion and purpose as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, Insha’Allah.
May these achievements serve as a reminder that true education is not confined to books alone, but is nurtured through experience, reflection and gratitude. I thank all parents, teachers and students for their continued partnership, and I look forward to seeing the new milestones we will continue to achieve together, Insha’Allah.
