Performing Arts

 I am doing a callout to any families that may have any unwanted costumes, or dress ups they no longer need to be donated to our ‘costume department’ here in Performing Arts. Our shelves are looking a little bare. Please, if you have any wigs, masks or costumes at home that are no longer needed and in good condition could you please consider donating them.  

Dance with Tom 

 For our younger students, we have been exploring and celebrating Indigenous culture through movement, rhythm, and storytelling with the wonderful ABC series Dance with Tom. This engaging program has been introducing our students to traditional and contemporary Indigenous dances in a way that is fun and respectful.  

Bangarra Dance Theatre  

For our older students, we have had the opportunity to deepen our understanding of contemporary dance through exploring the distinctive style of Bangarra Dance Theatre. We have been looking at Bangarra’s blend of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytelling with modern movement. Students have been learning how dance can communicate culture, history, and connection to Country through this unique and expressive style of dance.

Lunchtime Drama Club has also been a great success for many of our Year 3-6 students. It has been a lot of fun to ‘workshop’ some new performing arts skills with our students and has been awesome to see some new and familiar faces on a Wednesday lunchtime.
