These resources are a fantastic support for families navigating the many challenges and joys of parenting.
Alternative Play
Our Alternative Play program continues to provide students with a variety of engaging and inclusive lunchtime activities. These opportunities encourage creativity, teamwork, social connection, and positive play experiences for all students. Keep an eye out for the updated Alternative Play timetable and activities happening throughout the term.
We look forward to celebrating Walk to School Day and encouraging students and families to enjoy the benefits of walking, riding, or scooting to school where possible. Walking to school promotes healthy habits, independence, road safety awareness, and provides a great opportunity for students to connect with friends before the school day begins.
The National Walk Safely to School Day will be happening once again on Friday 22nd May. We will have two meeting points at 8.00am
- UNITED Petrol Station
- Yarrawonga Town Hall.
Students are encouraged to meet at one of these points and walk to school safely with a teacher.
*Running Club students will meet at the United Petrol Station.
Our Boys to the Bush program continues to provide valuable mentoring and wellbeing opportunities for students through connection, conversation, and positive role modelling. The program supports students in building confidence, resilience, social skills, and a sense of belonging through meaningful activities and experiences.
At Sacred Heart Primary School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. We are excited to invite members of our local community to become involved in our school by sharing their skills, passions and life experiences with our students.
We are currently seeking volunteers who may be interested in assisting with activities such as art, gardening, music, crafts, reading, cooking, sewing, woodworking, cultural activities and many other practical life skills.
This initiative is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the connection between our school and the wider community while helping students develop creativity, confidence, curiosity and valuable lifelong skills.
If you, or someone you know, would be interested in volunteering or sharing a special talent with our students, we would love to hear from you. Please scan the QR code on our volunteer poster or contact the front office for further information.
Be Brave Program Update
The Braves Program wrapped up this week for our Year 3/4 girls with Mrs Ramsdale. Across seven engaging sessions, students explored topics including fears and worries, positive coping strategies, building confidence when speaking in front of others, and developing self-belief.
The girls enjoyed getting to know one another in a supportive and encouraging environment, while participating in a range of fun and meaningful activities. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the program, and we hope each student leaves with stronger self-belief, resilience, and bravery to carry forward into everyday life.
Chill Skills Program Update
Our Chill Skills program is back in action this term, with a special focus on our Year 5/6 students. The group has been thoroughly enjoying a range of engaging and calming activities, including the fun and fabulous “Tooty Ta Ta” dance, meditation sessions, playdough creations, exploring positive language, and relaxing story time—just to name a few!
A big thank you to Jenny, Narelle and Siobhan from Yarra Health for their ongoing support and for visiting weekly to help make these sessions so enjoyable and meaningful for our students.
Don’t forget May is Mental Health Awareness month. Keep your kids talking, ask questions, listen to them and get help if you need it!
