Principals Report

It feels like the term is starting to gather speed. At the conclusion of this week, we officially reach the halfway point of Term 2!
Teachers have begun composing Semester 1 reports, which will be shared with families at the end of the term. We have also received some initial NAPLAN data from our Year 3 and Year 5 students (individualised reports will be available in Term 3). These early results are very pleasing and reflect the outstanding work of our teachers and learning support officers each day. We are particularly encouraged by how our results compare with other Victorian primary schools. Our Magnify Sandhurst approach — grounded in evidence‑informed, science of learning practices — is clearly having a positive impact, even as we are only in the second year of implementing our low‑variance, knowledge‑rich curriculum. I look forward to sharing further data as we continue to pursue our goal of outstanding learning growth for every student, every day.
Last Sunday morning, we celebrated the second of our Presentation Masses for our Confirmation and Eucharist candidates. Please continue to keep these students in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time and celebrate the gifts of the Holy Spirit: Harper B, Myles, Olive, Athena, Silas, Beau, Odette, Artie, Harry, Austin, Flynn, Jack C, Isla, Jimmy, Bodhi, Layla, Harper P, Dom, Alice, Archie, Lola, Nixon, Frankie, Jack O, Lilliana, Taz, Isaac and Paddy.
As a Catholic community, these students remind us of the importance of the Seven Sacraments as milestones in our faith journey, guiding and strengthening us in our relationship with God.
This week, we also began our 2027 Prep Tours, welcoming families who are either enrolled or considering Sacred Heart for their child’s education. It is always a pleasure to walk through our classrooms and share the many benefits of a Catholic education. Visitors consistently notice calm, predictable learning environments, high levels of student engagement, and explicit, purposeful teaching. We are proud of our well‑resourced classrooms, high‑quality staff, and supportive learning environments that enable students to thrive.
Looking ahead, we have a number of exciting events. This Friday, we celebrate Walk Safely to School Day, with students and families invited to meet staff at either the United Petrol Station or the Town Hall at 8:00am, before walking together to school — fingers crossed for fine weather!
Our newly designed School Cross Country will take place on Thursday 28 May at Victoria Park. This year, we have introduced a new course and a strong focus on whole‑school involvement, with students and families encouraged to support and cheer one another across year levels. As part of the day, students can purchase a cupcake and Prima drink, with proceeds supporting the Rosie Cullen Foundation — please see this newsletter for ordering details.
On 29 May, our Sacramental students will participate in Spirit Day, engaging in special activities to help prepare them for Confirmation and First Eucharist. On the same day, our Year 6 Courage Team will travel to Shepparton for the Reconciliation Mass, joining students and staff from Sacred Heart College.
We then conclude a very full and special month with the celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist (30–31 May) — a significant and joyful occasion for our school and parish community.
A reminder that our next pupil‑free day will be on Friday 5 June, creating a long weekend alongside the King’s Birthday public holiday.
Take care and God bless,
Jarrod
