High Achieving Student Programs

Year 10

Monash Scholars

Late last term, we were very pleased to hear that three of our Year 10 students had been accepted into Monash University’s Monash Scholars program.

Monash Scholars is a prestigious program for high achieving secondary school students based in Victoria. The program is offered by Monash University to give high potential students a unique head start into University life. It provides opportunities for personal and academic development, as well as giving students the knowledge, skills and confidence to make the right study choices. It also enables them to expand their network of like-minded peers.

It is with great excitement and pride that we congratulate Mica Gavrilovic, Kendra Prothero and Julie Quach on their acceptance into the program for 2024-2026.

Mica, Kendra and Julie will join over 1000 students across the state to participate in a series of events to enhance their learning and explore university life. Scholars will have access to a range of activities and events that will support their success at high school and enable them to discover what it’s really like to be a university student.

University of Melbourne – Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars

The University of Melbourne is currently taking applications for their highly competitive Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program.  The program is aimed at high-achieving students (in the top 5% of their year level), who are considering the University of Melbourne for their tertiary education.  Successful applicants will receive access to exclusive University events and academic enrichments activities for two years. It gives the student the chance to experience a taste of student life first-hand, as well as the opportunity to build strong peer networks that will support them throughout their final years of secondary school and during their transition to university.

If any students are interested in applying, they are required to message me directly on Teams and I will send an application link.

Student applications are due by Fri 30 August.

Once the University of Melbourne has received applications, they will filter through them and will approach the school for endorsement.

Wantirna are able to endorse up to five students in total.  The decision is then left up to the University, who will choose one student to participate in the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program for 2025 & 2026.
