Connect

Term 3 has begun, and the Connect Crew is back! This term we welcomed Lisa Jones to our team as a permanent Connect Crew facilitator. Lisa started at Wantirna College in Term 1, and has developed many relationships across the school and community. We look forward to all that Lisa can bring to our groups and our school through the Connect Program.

Over the holidays, the Connect Crew introduced a fish tank into Mason House. This project is one of Connect Crew 1’s initiatives to support student regulation and wellbeing. We have welcomed 14 members to the tank, and would like to thank all of the students who submitted name suggestions. I would like to introduce you to Peach, Charm, Midnight, Vibe, Zebra Burger and Zebra Bobby.

We also have 8 Plecos (suckermouth catfish) who are being referred to as Bob 1 to 8, simply because we cannot find them all in the tank, or tell them apart.

A big thank you to Assistant Principal, James Doble, for his work with Connect Crew 9 to build the fish tank lid, and organise required materials.

Week 2 has seen the start of our Term 3 program with two groups visiting the Outer East Food Share in Wantirna to donate their time to packing food packages for donation. Students worked alongside community volunteers to pack food boxes and pet food for those in the community who need it most. Connect Crews will continue to work alongside Outer East Food Share to support our community members in need.

Outer East Food Share is a registered charity working with emergency food relief agencies in Melbourne's outer east to improve access to fresh food for people in need. Food is brought into the Hub in Templeton Street and delivered in the refrigerated van, or picked up by charities in Knox and the Yarra Ranges.

This week, we also celebrated one of our most popular Connect Crew member’s birthdays! Arlo turned 1! Arlo has loved spending his time with our groups, and many of the students at Wantirna College!
