State Cross Country Results
Holly shines at State Cross Country!
Congratulations to Holly Makaay who placed 3rd at the SSV State Cross Country championships for the 16 Girls last Thursday. An amazing achievement for herself and Wantirna College. Holly ran a time of 13:14 for 3km in wet and muddy conditions, unfortunately her brand new white shoes weren’t as white at the finish line.
In addition to this, Holly also competed at the All Schools Cross Country Championships in Bundoora over the weekend, competing against students from schools in both the public and private sector. Holly placed 9th, running in a time of 16:02 for 4km. As a result of finishing in the top 10, Holly has made the Victorian squad and will compete at the National Championships later this year. Another amazing achievement!
Jayvel Singh had a busy week, at the SSV level he finished 12th in a time of 18:35 for 5km in the 16 Boys. He then also represented Wantirna at All Schools and finished 54th in a time of 22:34 for 6km. Capping off an impressive week!
After a late call up, we also had Dhiren Shanker compete at the SSV championships, he finished 48th in a time of 20:05 for 5km in the 17-20 Boys, this was Dhiren's 2nd time representing Wantirna College at the State Cross Country and it will be his last time before he heads off to Singapore next year.
We now turn our attention to the House Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 13 August.
Enjoy the Olympics – Go Aussies!
