This edition, I interviewed our amazing Dance and Drama teacher, Ms Evie Ball to get her insight into all things books!
What book are you currently reading, or read last?
The Bob Fosse Biography. A very interesting read, especially on Fosse’s life before Hollywood.
What was your favourite book as a kid?
Ooh, probably The Chronicles of Narnia. I loved fantasy as a kid and still do!
If you were stuck on a desert island, and where told that your only entertainment was an unlimited supply of books, but they had to remain in the same genre, what genre would you pick and why?
Probably some sort fiction with a historical influence.
What book have you been putting off to read, or is next on your TBR?
The Alchemist – I lost the bookmark so I’ll have to start again. Thanks for reminding me!
If you were prime minister and had to mandate a specific book that was compulsory for all of Australia to read, what book would you choose?
Very tough question. Probably a bit left of field, but some kind of cookbook. Life skills are important people!
What book trope automatically makes you slam a book closed to never be reopened again?
It would have to be Damsel in Distress – not interested 😄

Our Library Leaders are having a great time helping in the Library. To celebrate, we held a thank you party at the end of Term 2 and students were also awarded their badges by Ms Amat Y Leon, our Student Leadership Coordinator, at the end of this week. As we head towards Book Week. our Library Leaders will continue to take a leading role in preparing and running events. Thanks Annabelle, Ashley, Ellie and Tahlia!
Resident Writers is a chance for all writers and poets out there to share their talents with the school community. It is held once a term, and there are three categories (Students, Staff, and Family & friends) with a prize for the winning student entry with winners of the Staff and F&F categories receiving honour and glory. As a rough guide, works should be between 250-350 words, shorter is ok but not significantly longer.
Send your entries by email to library@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au with the subject line 'Resident Writers' entry. If it is a Family & Friends submission, please mention which student or staff member you are connected to. By submitting you agree to be published to the school community (on Teams, in the College Yearbook, etc) - please let the Library know if you want to submit but prefer to keep your work anonymous. Past entries can be read in the resident Writers Gallery at the top of the Library Team – Resident writers channel
Over the last two weeks, students have noticed a new Library staff member. Binks Bailey has been undertaking a student placement in the Library in Weeks 1 and 2 this term as part of studying for their Diploma of Library and Information Services. Binks has been a wonderful asset; we bid them a sad farewell and wish them luck with their studies.
