Staff Interview - Junyu

Hello, my name is Junyu Meng. I am a Master of Counselling student at Monash University, and I am currently completing my internship as a school counsellor in a primary school. 

My role is to support children’s emotional, social, and behavioural development in a safe and caring way. This may include helping children talk about their feelings, manage worries, build confidence, improve friendships, and learn positive ways to cope with difficulties at school. I may work with children one-on-one or in small groups, and I also communicate with teachers and parents to better understand each child’s needs. 

School counselling support is designed to provide children with a safe space and practical support, rather than to label or judge them.The purpose of this support is to help children feel understood, supported, and more confident in their daily school life.
