Volunteering at EHPS

Parent/carer volunteers are welcomed and encouraged at EHPS. Over the school year, there are many opportunities to volunteer, e.g. Prep PMP, House Athletics, camps, helping in the classroom, going on an excursion, assisting with sport events or the swimming program, Canteen roster, Parents & Friends Club social and fundraising activities. It is timely to remind our community that EHPS is a Child Safe school and before volunteering in any capacity the first time we require you to:
- have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC); a volunteer WWCC is free of charge (parents/carers who have VIT registration should register their VIT at Teacher notification to WWCCV);
- have signed the Child Safety Code of Conduct Acknowledgement, confirming that you have read and will adhere to the EHPS Child Safety and volunteer policies; and
- complete the volunteer OH&S induction.
Before volunteering for the first time, present your WWCC card at the School Office to be copied for our register, and you will be provided with the Child Safety Code of Conduct Acknowledgement to sign and will complete the OH&S induction with Gabby.
If you already hold a WWCC, please check that your WWCC has not expired and add EHPS to your organisation list.
A WWCC is valid for five years. You can renew six months prior and up to three months after the expiry date. Present your new card at the School Office so we can update our register.
After you have completed the three steps above, you can volunteer or help in any capacity. Each time you are onsite to volunteer or going on an excursion leaving from school you are required to sign in and sign out on the Compass Kiosk in the School Office. The Kiosk requires you to enter the name of the staff member you are working with (e.g. classroom teacher’s name if volunteering in the classroom, Maria Vlahos if volunteering in the Canteen, George Perini for a PFC activity) and your WWCC details (surname on card and WWCC number). Please carry your WWCC card with you so you can enter the WWCC number when signing in, or you can download a digital WWCC to the Service Victoria app on your smart phone.
