Year 2

Police Visit
During Term 1, Year 2 students were fortunate to have a visit from Senior Constable Jacki, who spoke to them about the important roles of the police, fire brigade, and ambulance services in supporting and protecting the community. She explained how each service responds in emergencies and works together to keep people safe.
The students were highly engaged and curious, particularly when learning about what police officers carry with them as part of their daily duties. They asked thoughtful questions and were eager to understand how these items are used in real-life situations. Later, Senior Constable Jacki showed the students some of the equipment she carries, which sparked great excitement and further discussion.
To conclude the visit, the students walked out to the car park where Senior Constable Jacki showed them her police car. She even sounded the sirens, much to the children's delight, making the experience both memorable and exciting for everyone involved.
Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead Excursion
Our Integrated Unit in Term 2 is Olden Days. As part of studying life in the past, Year 2 students will be visiting the Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead in Wandin North:
- 2BH & 2RO on Tuesday 19 May
- 2L & 2LB on Friday 22 May.
There’s lots to see and explore, including the former milking shed, the slab kitchen on the original house site, the museum collection in the remodelled former farm buildings (which is home to over 5,000 eclectic objects, from egg whisks and butter churns to wedding dresses and pig scrapers), plus the historic dairy and chapel. Students will be engaging in a range of activities through rotations.
We encourage students to dress up in 'olden day' clothes for the day to really 'immerse' themselves in the experience.
Students will need to bring a small backpack with their snack, lunch and drink bottle (all named) on the day.
If you have any questions - please contact your classroom teacher.
We’re looking forward to a day of fun exploring 'life in the past!'
