Dear EHPS Parents and Carers,
Welcome back for Term 2.
I hope you all had the opportunity to spend quality time with your children and friends over the Term 1 vacation, especially celebrating several cultural days and festivals in our calendar e.g. Easter, Qingming and Songkran.

Throughout this term, the children will have many wonderful experiences which will enhance their learning and engagement at school.
Welcome to new staff
We are very pleased to announce that Cassandra (Cass) Gleglakos is our new First Aid Officer. Cass is a former nurse and is very keen to work with families and provide first aid assistance to our children.
Cass will work in our Health Centre from 10am to 3pm each weekday.
Likewise, Hannah Bennett Mazzilli has joined our Education Support team and is working in classrooms with children in our Disability Inclusion program.
We look forward to Cass and Hannah’s ongoing contribution to the learning and wellbeing of our children.
We are very pleased to welcome back Con Papanicolaou who will take up the role of Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. He will work with staff and groups of children to ensure that our school is catering for the complex needs of our children.
McGrath Foundation Fundraising
Our fundraising portal for the McGrath Foundation closed last week. We are very pleased to inform you that we smashed our goal. Congratulations to the EHPS community! You've donated $875 to the McGrath Foundation.
Staff PD
On the Student-free Day on Wednesday 29 April our staff participated in professional learning in both Literacy and Numeracy delivered by our Learning Specialists, Renée Dare and Kelvin Tang. The aim of this PD was to continue to develop the skills in our teachers so that they can better engage students through explicit teaching. This improved practice will translate to improve outcomes for our students.
Mother’s Day Treat, Raffle & Stall
Last Friday our Parents & Friends Club organised our annual Mother’s Day Treat and Raffle. Mums and special friends were able to enjoy a lovely spread in the School Hall. The drawing of the raffle prizes also occurred that morning and there were many very happy mums at the conclusion of the event.
The Mother’s Day Stall will be held this Friday, 8 May. Students will be able to purchase a gift for their Mum and/or special person.
A huge thank you to the PFC for organising these two excellent community events!
ANZAC Commemoration & Appeal
On Friday 24 April, we held our annual ANZAC commemoration in our Stadium. The ceremony was exemplary. The students were all truly respectful and our student presenters and musicians were so well prepared and did so well. All of them made us so proud. The wreaths prepared by each class have been on display in the Library.
During the first week of term, our Year 6 students sold 2026 ANZAC Appeal fundraising items and collected donations on behalf of the Waverley RSL. We sold out of the $2, $3 and $4 dollar items in the first two days, and all remaining items by the end of the week. Thank you for supporting this year’s ANZAC Appeal.

Parent Payments
A reminder to all families was sent last week.
All families were advised of the annual parents payments that our School Council has endorsed for this school year early in Term 1.
All families are strongly encouraged to contribute the requested contributions to ensure that the quality of the facilities and resources available for our students continue to enjoy and few schools match the numerous programs that we offer to cater for student’s needs.
Please don’t hesitate to contact our Business Manager, Barbara McCann, if you’d like to discuss a payment plan.
More information can be found on our website by following the link: EHPS Parent Payments.
Use of toilets by adults
Please note that by Child Safe Standards, student toilets cannot be used by adults.
Therefore, parents must not use the student toilets in the Stadium, i.e. those accessed from the 1/2 playground.
If an urgent need arises, an adult toilet can be accessed in the Administration building.
