Diversity Club

The Diversity Team has had a busy first term! We’ve had the Pedal Power Cinema, the Harmony Day performances and regular club meetings.

Diversity had a great start to the year with so many new members coming along to the lunchtime meetings (every Tuesday in Library B) and this year we’re making sure that there is something to do each meeting. Whether it’s decorating the board or planning our next event, the Diversity team is staying occupied.

In February, Diversity ran a stall at the Pedal Powered Cinema organised by the amazing Environment Team.

Team Div ran a face paint and badge stall. The badges were designed by members of the team and the face paint was limited only by the creativity of the customers.  It was a great night with so many people helping out, so thank you to everyone who did. We loved seeing all the different face paint designs people chose- especially those that challenged our artistic skills!

Through face painting and badge sales the Diversity Team was able to make around $200! Massive thanks to everyone that came by to buy a badge, or get some fun face paint.

Most recently we had Harmony Day, which celebrates the multiculturalism of Australia.

Throughout the week there were activities in home group and the week culminated in Harmony Day where sadly we were unable to run an assembly but the performances were still incredible!

We were so lucky to have so many performances from students showcasing their cultures, singing, dancing and comedic abilities!

Those who stuck around for the end saw a performance from the rock band and choir together.

Harmony Day was also a free dress day, thanks to everyone who wore orange or their cultural dress.  If you want to help make Harmony Day next year even better, come along to Diversity Club next term on Tuesday lunchtimes in Library B.

Keep an eye out for more news from us as we have plenty of fun events for the rest of the year!
