Year 7 Visual Art
Exercise in design using the elements of art.
The Year 7 cohort were asked to design a visual representation of the art elements in their visual diaries.
The students truly exceeded with their creativity. It has been inspiring to see the diversity in each artwork.
Well done!

Year 8 Visual Art
Students in Year 8 Art have recently conducted an investigation into the work of contemporary Australian artist Billie Justice Thomson, responding to her style by creating their own artworks. They explored the bold, expressive, and colourful elements that characterise Thomson's work, drawing inspiration from her use of vibrant colours and bold outlines. After studying her techniques, the students experimented with similar themes in their own creations. The project allowed them to engage creatively with Thomson's work and further their studies into Pop Art with amazing results!

Year 9 Photography
The Year 9 Photography students have been taking photographs based on the art elements and compositional rules for their first assessment task. Whilst taking their photographs they are also becoming familiar with how to use the DSLR cameras. We are very grateful to the MGC Parents Association for the twelve extra cameras we received through a generous grant.
Each photograph presented is based on an art element that the student chose.
Emphasis is based on the visual impact they can create with the varying subject matter and techniques. Each photograph also employs a different compositional rule to help enhance the creativity of each photograph.

Collaborative Charcoal Reproductions
During this project, students explored a range of drawing techniques using charcoal. Once they had mastered the medium, they participated in a collaborative drawing project with their classmates. Each student reproduced a section of an artwork by an Australian female artist using charcoal. After completing their sections, they worked together to reconstruct the artwork.
The finished Collaborative Charcoal Reproductions are now on display around the school. Well done, Year 10 Visual Arts! You should all be proud of your hard work and the impressive artworks you have created together.
