Global learning Student Voice Project
We are lucky enough, again, to be selected to participate in the International Education and Partnerships Division’s Global Learning Student Voice project. The project involves both international and local students from government and non-government schools across Victoria. Our team in 2025, made up of four international students, and three local students will lead a project to support international students, make them feel welcomed and included in the school community, and help local students develop greater intercultural understanding and global mindsets.
At the first forum on March 20, our students had the opportunity to connect with students from 10 other schools, sharing their school experiences and engaging in meaningful discussions. It was wonderful to see them working together as a team, especially during the Spice Trail activity, where they explored the diverse flavours and cultural significance of different spices.
With this year’s theme of Global Change, we look forward to seeing our students create lasting memories and make a meaningful impact within the MGC community.
Harmony Day
Many of our international students eagerly participated in Harmony Day, having looked forward to this moment since last year. They were excited to showcase their cultures and talents, and their enthusiasm was truly inspiring. Our International Student Leaders, Hongjoo and Traci, brought everyone together and did a fantastic job leading the organization, communication with the student leadership team and supporting students to be prepared.
We had the pleasure of experiencing Audrey’s stand-up comedy, where she shared hilarious insights into her father’s culture shock as a newcomer to Australia. Elena captivated us with a beautiful Persian dance, while Pania delivered captisolos on the Handpan. Cassie showcased a traditional Chinese dance and, together with Joyce, performed a popular Chinese song.
With Joyce on piano, Traci on the ruan (a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument), Galatea on the guzheng (a Chinese plucked zither), Chloe on clarinet, Estrelya on drums and Ayhans’ supporting, we enjoyed a unique blend of Chinese New Age Folk and Taylor Swift’s Love Story. This fusion of Eastern and Western instruments perfectly captured the essence of Harmony Day.
