Level 2
2ES Elizabeth Seymour, 2YS Yasi Shayesteh, 2KH Sally Rochford
In both reading and writing, our students have continued work on our persuasive unit. Last week in reading, Mrs Seymour wrote a letter to the Level 2s explaining while all squishies should be banned! The students had to use their knowledge of persuasive techniques to convince her to keep the squishies. They succeeded! In writing, they have been writing a persuasive piece to teach children about safety. Their topics have included: wearing a seatbelt, walking by the pool, staying away from strange animals and more. In Week 4, they continued to develop their drafts by using persuasive devices they have learned including rhetorical questions, alliteration, statistics and more.

In weeks 3 and 4, the students have learned about two-dimensional shapes and how to transform them. They have created composite shapes by combining known 2D shapes to make new ones. They have also explored how shapes would look after being reflected, rotated and translated. The students have learned to recognise the features of two-dimensional shapes by recognising the number of sides and vertices they have, as well as whether they have curved/straight sides or use parallel lines.

Level 2 Fun Day has been organised for November 12th, with the consent form live on Compass. On this day, the students will arrive early in free dress and stay at school until 5pm. Throughout the day they will enjoy activities, a barbeque lunch, a talent show (which many students have already excitedly signed up for!) and a performance by a magician. The cost for this event is $7. We ask that you please complete the consent form on Compass promptly to assist in our organisation.
A friendly reminder that students require hats from September to April in accordance with the Education Department's Sunsmart Policy. Students are also welcome to bring a named roll-on sunscreen to keep at school, if they haven’t already provided one. Please make sure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
