Level 5

Level 5- Term 4
It has been wonderful to see our students embracing their learning and exploring their creativity across the curriculum!
Literacy
Reading – Discovering the Deeper Meaning of Poetry
In Reading, we have been diving into the world of poetry, looking beyond the words on the page to uncover deeper meanings, symbolism and the impact of an author's word choices. Students have been exploring how poets use language to communicate ideas, create imagery and evoke emotions in their readers. We have been developing our ability to think critically and interpret poetry from different perspectives.
Writing – Finding Our Voice Through Poetry
Our Writing sessions have been filled with creativity as students experiment with poetic techniques, including personification, symbolism and language that evokes emotion. Students have been developing their own unique voices as poets, carefully selecting words to bring their ideas to life and create vivid imagery for their readers. A highlight has been creating their very own poetry anthologies to showcase their work. For Grandparents Day, students also wrote heartfelt odes dedicated to the special people in their lives. These poems were a beautiful way to celebrate the important relationships we share and express appreciation through the power of words.
Numeracy – Exploring Shapes, Space and Measurement
In Maths, we have been revising and strengthening our understanding of three-dimensional shapes and their features. Students have explored the properties of different 3D objects while investigating volume and capacity. We have also been practising metric conversions and revisiting angles, developing our confidence in applying mathematical knowledge to solve problems and explain our thinking.
Inquiry – Exploring the Eight Elements of Wellness
During Inquiry, students have been investigating and researching the eight elements of wellness. This has encouraged them to think more deeply about what it means to be healthy and well, recognising that wellbeing involves much more than just physical health. Students have been exploring the different factors that contribute to a balanced and fulfilling life and considering how these elements influence our everyday choices, relationships and overall wellbeing.
We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, creativity and thoughtfulness our students continue to demonstrate. From expressing their emotions through poetry to deepening their mathematical understanding and exploring what it means to live a healthy, balanced life, students have continued to challenge themselves and grow as learners.
Hats and Sunscreen
A friendly reminder that students require hats from September to April in accordance with the Education Department's Sunsmart Policy. Students are also welcome to bring a named roll-on sunscreen to keep at school, if they haven’t already provided one. Please make sure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
