Year 5 Highlight

Our Grade 5 students have been diving into an exciting and meaningful learning experience through DBL, where they’ve taken on the role of young leaders by creating their very own political parties. From brainstorming creative party names to crafting catchy slogans, students have worked collaboratively to define the values that matter most to them, such as fairness, sustainability, inclusion, and community wellbeing. They’ve shown incredible imagination and thoughtfulness as they explored real-world issues and considered how their parties could make a positive difference. The energy in the classroom has been inspiring, with students eagerly sharing ideas, debating respectfully, and refining their visions.

What makes this project truly special is how it blends fun with deep learning. Students are not only developing their creativity and teamwork skills, but also building a strong understanding of civics, leadership, and responsible decision-making. They’ve thoughtfully planned how their ideas could be implemented, learning that great ideas require clear actions and commitment. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they begin to present their campaigns and stand proudly behind their beliefs. This engaging experience has empowered our students to see themselves as capable changemakers, and we couldn’t be prouder of their enthusiasm, insight, and dedication.
