Term 2

Wow! It is almost our Term 2 break! A huge thank you for all of the continued efforts throughout these past 10 weeks, it certainly has been action packed!

SpellEx

In spelling, we have been learning different strategies to remember the spelling of tricky words. One of these strategies is using a song or rhyme to remember the spelling pattern. We have also focused on dropping the final 'e' when adding a vowel suffix.

Literacy

This term, students explored Finding Our Heart by Thomas Mayo. The book introduced the Uluru Statement from the Heart and encouraged understanding of fairness, respect and belonging. Through discussion and reflection, students developed their reading and communication skills while considering how we can work together for a shared future.

Over the past fortnight, students also explored Australian poetry through The Ant’s Adventure and Mulga Bill’s Bicycle. They examined humour, rhyme and descriptive language and discussed how poets create meaning and entertain readers. 

During our writing units, students have been learning how to take notes and summarise texts. They then explored how to develop personal responses and share their point of view with a reader. Check out some of our students’ writing below!

Mathematics 

Over the past five weeks, students developed their understanding of number and statistics. They explored multiplication and division strategies, investigated number patterns, and strengthened place value knowledge. Students also collected and represented data, interpreting simple graphs and discussing findings. 

Religious Education - The Fruits of the Spirit

Students explored the significance of Pentecost as an important feast in the Church. They learnt about the Holy Spirit as God’s presence in the world and within each person, and how the Spirit guides us to live as Jesus did. Students reflected on how they can share kindness, love and faith in their daily lives.

Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

Reports will be released on Thursday after 3pm through PAM or Simon Everywhere App. Parent teacher interviews to discuss your child's progress and report will be happening in the second week of Term 3. Bookings are done through PAM/Simon, this will be open shortly, please keep an eye out.

Year 3-4 Camp

What an amazing two days we had down in Alexandra. Dodging the rain, it was great to test out our resilience, strengthen our teamwork and communication skills as well as building our self-confidence. It was a credit to the students with their organisation skills, getting along with one another in their groups, their rooms or around the dinner table. We hope it was everything that your children hoped it would be!
