Spotlight on Learning
Bethany Community
Dear Families,
Another week of successful learning has seen students engaging enthusiastically across the curriculum. In Writing, students have been exploring poetry and using personification to create imaginative and descriptive pieces. In Mathematics, students have investigated chance experiments, identifying fair and unfair outcomes and expressing probabilities using fractions.
We look forward to welcoming families to our Parent-Teacher Evening next week. Students are encouraged to attend alongside their families to celebrate their achievements and reflect on their future learning goals. Interview times are strictly limited to 10 minutes, and families are asked to book through the PAM system. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the school office. Should you wish to discuss any additional concerns, you are welcome to arrange another time to speak with your child's teacher.
As the term draws to a close, we are grateful for a successful and rewarding term of learning. Thank you for your continued support throughout the semester. Term 2 concludes on Friday 26 June, and we wish all families a safe and restful holiday break.
Religious Education:
Next Week in Religious Education, students will review and share their learning about the Holy Spirit. They will explain how the Holy Spirit guided important people such as Mary, the disciples and St Francis of Assisi, and explore the significance of Pentecost and how the Holy Spirit continues to guide Christians today. Students will also reflect on how the Fruits of the Spirit encourage peace, kindness and reconciliation in everyday life as they work collaboratively and provide respectful feedback to one another.
English:
Next Week in English, students will explore the use of personification in poetry. They will learn how authors give human qualities, feelings and actions to objects and elements of nature to create vivid imagery and engage readers. Students will use this literary device to plan and write their own creative poems.
Mathematics:
Next Week in Mathematics, students will explore chance by identifying and comparing fair and unfair experiments. They will investigate different outcomes and learn to express the probability of events using fractions, developing their understanding of likelihood and chance.
Integrated Curriculum:
Next week in Integrated Studies, students will be consolidating their learning about the interconnections between countries in the Asia-Pacific region. They will continue working on and presenting their research projects, sharing their understanding of how people, cultures, trade and the environment connect these countries.
Auslan:
In Auslan, students have been developing their communication skills by learning a range of signs used to interact with others. They have also explored important features of Auslan, including facial expressions and body movements, the use of signing space, and the role of pointing to communicate meaning effectively.
Social & Emotional Learning:
Next Week in Personal and Social Learning, students will use role-play to explore different ways to solve problems in social situations. They will reflect on the challenges involved in making choices with others, evaluate the outcomes of their actions, and consider how listening to advice can help them make more positive and respectful decisions.
