Foundation – Grade 2

Students explored the differences between insects and other minibeasts, learning about their unique features and characteristics. They also investigated what plants need to survive and grow, including sunlight, water, air and nutrients.

Digital Technology

Students used Seesaw to create and design digital pictures, developing their technology skills while learning how to upload and share their work in their student journals.

Design Technology

Students applied their creativity and design skills by constructing a dragonfly model and designing their own Rainbow Fish, using a variety of materials to bring their ideas to life.

Grades 3 and 4

Students investigated seed dispersal through hands-on experiments, exploring the different ways seeds are spread in the environment. They also learnt about water irrigation systems, examining how they work and why they are important for supporting plant growth and agriculture.

Students also enjoyed participating in the 'Fantastic Fossils' incursion, where they explored different types of rocks and closely examined their features using microscopes.

Digital Technology

Students explored peripheral devices, identifying the difference between input and output devices and how they interact with digital systems. They also developed an understanding of how data is collected, used and represented on digital platforms.

Design Technology

Students designed, planned, produced and evaluated a model water irrigation system. Through this process, they applied their understanding of irrigation to create a solution that could be used to efficiently water a vegetable garden.

Grade 5

Students explored structural adaptations and learnt how specific features help animals survive in their environments. They identified adaptations and explained why these characteristics provide an advantage, as well as matched adaptations to animals and their survival needs.

Digital Technology

Students developed their data literacy skills by using spreadsheets to organise, analyse and visualise data. They identified different types of data and used sorting functions in Google Sheets to arrange numerical data in ascending and descending order.

Design Technology

Students learnt the importance of safety and hygiene practices in the kitchen. They also considered nutrition, food safety and sustainability when designing and producing a healthy meal, applying these principles to make informed food choices.

Grade 6

Students explored how First Nations Peoples of Australia use celestial objects as indicators for planting, harvesting, hunting and gathering food. They identified different celestial bodies used for these purposes and explained how various First Nations communities use observations of the sky to guide sustainable living practices. Students also developed an understanding of how the sky acts as a natural calendar that supports the responsible management of resources.

Digital Technology

Students developed their data literacy skills by using spreadsheets to organise, analyse and visualise data. They identified different types of data and used sorting functions in Google Sheets to arrange numerical data in ascending and descending order.

Design Technology

Students designed and constructed a working model demonstrating the Earth's orbit around the Sun and the Moon's orbit around the Earth. Through this project, they applied their understanding of space science concepts while developing their design and problem-solving skills.
