Assistant Principal's Report
Term 1 Parent Student Teacher Conferences and Reports
We would like to remind families about the upcoming Parent-Student-Teacher (PST) Conference on Tuesday April 1st, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM. This is an excellent opportunity for families to engage with teachers and gain valuable insights into their child’s progress. We encourage all families to attend and make the most of this chance for meaningful conversations about their student’s growth and achievements.
Throughout this term, our students have been diligently working on their classroom curriculum and completing various assessment tasks across all subjects. We are excited to share their progress and celebrate their accomplishments and the PST Conferences provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate these achievements.
We look forward to seeing you at the PST conference and continuing our partnership for positive student outcomes.
Learning catch up and extension
Teachers have been focusing on ensuring all students have the essential skills and knowledge in each of their subject areas. Teachers are also monitoring students and supporting them to make the next steps in their learning.
We support students in a number of programs to assist learning catch up and extension. Among these are the MYLNS program, Year 11 and 12 tutors, the Quicksmart program and the Tutor Learning Initiative. Furthermore, Homework Club provides learning support for students every Wednesday from 3:10 to 4:00pm.
NAPLAN 2025
Our Year 7 and 9 students participated in the nation-wide online NAPLAN testing which ran very successfully from 12th March to 24th March. Thank you to parents and teachers for their work in preparing and encouraging students to participate to their best. The tests provide useful information and effective indicators of how our students are travelling and how they can be supported in their learning needs.
Alumni Program
Wyndham Central College is proud of our alumni and the Alumni Program continues this year.
Alumni from our foundation schools – Galvin Park Secondary College and Werribee Technical School – are also part of our alumni community.
The purpose of the alumni community is to advise, help and inspire current students at Wyndham Central College and support a network with other ex-students.
We developed the program in partnership with Ourschool, a not-for-profit service that helps public schools build their alumni communities.
Our alumni program focuses on:
- Establishing and growing our alumni community
- Inviting alumni back to school to provide career or study advice to students
- Inviting alumni to offer work experience placements for our students
- Helping alumni establish or contribute to student scholarships
- Establishing avenues for alumni to provide philanthropic support
Alumni can join our alumni community by filling in the form on our College website at https://www.wyndhamcentralsc.vic.edu.au/alumni/
Holi Celebration and Colour Run
During the recent Holi celebration, we held a vibrant Colour Run for our Year 7 students during Sessions 5 and 6 on Friday 14th March. The students thoroughly enjoyed the festival of colours, immersing themselves in its significance of peace, love, and harmony.
We were also honoured to welcome the Consul General of India, Dr. Sushil Kumar, and our newly elected Member of Parliament, John Lister, and our School Council member Swapnil Goyal to afternoon tea. Our students showcased their talents through traditional Indian dance performances in celebration of Holi Week. A special highlight was an outstanding speech in Hindi by our Year 10 student, Udisha Goyal commemorating this special occasion.
As a Hindi Beacon School, we look forward to continuing our association with the Indian Consulate to celebrate Hindi culture and expand our students' language skills.
I wish you all a wonderful Term break and look forward to seeing all students return for the new term.
