Senior School Newsletter – 

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students, 

As we approach the end of Term 3, it is pleasing to see our Senior School students maintaining their focus and commitment as major assessments draw to a close. With the holiday break just around the corner, students are reflecting on their learning, preparing for upcoming examinations, and planning for the final stages of the academic year. 

VCE Trial Exams – Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth 

Our students have the opportunity to participate in trial examinations, providing a valuable opportunity to gauge their knowledge and understanding while identifying areas where further preparation may be required. 

Trial exams are an important part of the learning process, helping students become familiar with examination conditions, develop effective time-management strategies, and recognise gaps in their knowledge ahead of the upcoming VCAA examinations. We encourage all students to approach these opportunities with a growth mindset, using feedback to guide their study and strengthen their confidence. 

Year 12 students have now received their examination timetables, allowing them to plan their study schedules in preparation for the October and November VCAA examinations. I encourage students and families to use this information to establish realistic study routines that balance revision, practice examinations, rest, and wellbeing. 

Our Director of Learning, Kristina Vasilakis, has also shared some helpful tips for exam preparation in her newsletter. I encourage all students to take the time to read these suggestions and consider how they can incorporate them into their own preparation. 

VCE VM and VPC – Final Showcase 

Our VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) students are also busy preparing for their final showcase, where they will present the work they have completed throughout the year and reflect on their learning journey. 

This showcase represents an important culmination of their efforts and provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, celebrate their achievements, and reflect on their growth. It is wonderful to see the quality of work being produced by our students, and we look forward to celebrating their accomplishments as they prepare for this important milestone. 

Transition and Pathways – Planning for 2027 

All Year 12 students across both VCE and VCE VM have now participated in one-on-one careers interviews with Acting Assistant Principal Lyndal Yardas and Careers Coordinator Geraldine Borgonha to confirm their intentions for 2027. 

It has been fantastic to hear that our students have developed clear plans for their next steps, whether that involves further study, training, or entering the workforce. These conversations are an important part of ensuring students feel supported and prepared as they transition beyond Westall Secondary College. 

Course Counselling and Timetable Planning for 2027 

A big thank you to all students and families for your active participation in the 2027 course counselling process. It was fantastic to see students arrive informed, prepared, and excited about their future learning pathways. 

The Principal Team has been busy reviewing student subject selections for 2027, which will play an important role in shaping next year’s timetable. We are now working hard behind the scenes to build a timetable based on these selections. 

More information will follow once we have confirmed class numbers and the subjects available for next year. A draft timetable is expected to be shared in early Term 4. 

Reminders – Summer Uniform for Term 4 

As we prepare for Term 4, a reminder that students are expected to be in full summer uniform from the first day back. Key points include: 

• Girls should wear the designated summer dress, with no tights or stockings. 

• Students and families should refer to the school website for full uniform details: Westall SC Uniform Guidelines. 

• School caps are required for outdoor PE and sports classes to support sun safety. 

Please ensure uniforms are ready in time to support a smooth transition into Term 4.
