From the Wellbeing Team!
A message from the Student Wellbeing Coordinator
Ashley Oehler
This term in Wellbeing we have celebrated Wear It Purple, a day of pride to show the students in out LGBTQIA+ community that they are accepted and welcome in all spaces. We have also celebrated RUOK? Day. A day that reminds us that a simple check in can go a long way in supporting our friends. Thank you to all of our SRC and students that supported in running these celebration days!
Congratulations to all the students who have participated in our group programs this term! We have run three separate programs. The Conflict Resolution Program which encouraged students to take control of their angry emotions and work on proactive ways to resolve issues. The Social Skills Program was completed by a group of senior students and junior students this term. Students in this program work on supporting their social skills, identifying different ways of communicating and supporting their wellbeing. Lastly, the Young Women’s Empowerment Program. In this, we have seen the girls thrive and become more self-confident. They have worked on techniques such as setting boundaries, emotional regulation, encouraging each other and looking to thrive.
Term 4 is a big time for navigating change. Whether you’re a year 12 on the road to graduation, or a year 7 on the way to year 8, change can be a challenge.
Tips for coping with change:
Understand that things will not always go your way and that is okay!
Be kind to yourself – It is okay to make mistakes! We are only human.
Support each other – Change can be stressful to navigate. Take time to check in and support each other.
We believe in all of you. Take care this break.

What does the Westall Wellbeing Team do?
In the Wellbeing team, we run one-on-one sessions with students. This is a direct support we offer to students who struggle with regulation, need coping strategies, help managing stress, and navigating any tough situations.
We also run small group programs. These are targeted interventions that cover a specific topic/theme to support students experiencing similar struggles. We aim to empower and build awareness in our students with these programs.
If there is anything you think you need support with you can check in and get connected by:
Speaking to your coordinator: When you speak with your coordinator, they will put through a referral, and a member of the team will contact you directly.
Sending a message on teams: You can directly contact Ash (Wellbeing Coordinator) or Nadia (Student Engagement Officer) on teams to book an appointment.
Speak to us in person: Drop in to the Wellbeing space and come for a quick chat, we can get you set up.
