Course Selection and VET – Vocational Education and Training Programs on offer

Another busy term with our Year 10 and 11 students asking questions about their VET programs.

These are some of the VET programs that our students and families have chosen for 2027:

Pathway Interviews Year 12 Vocational Major and VPC  Students 

On Thursday 20 August, Pathway Interviews were conducted by Geraldine Borgonha, Careers and Pathways Advisor for Year 12 Vocational Major and VPC  Students.  These interviews provide the student an opportunity to reflect on the year that’s been and the future that is ahead of them.  It was great hearing the passion in their voices of their current employment and future plans.  My request to our students was to stay in touch with each other and with our school and attend “RETURN OF THE GRADUATES” ON 15th February 2027 to meet our teachers and enjoy pizza and soft drinks.  Thanks to Mr Gropel and Ms Vicky for all their co-ordination.

Mock Interviews sessions for Year 12 Vocational Major and VPC  Students

On Thursday 28 August, Year 12V students participated in 'mock interview' sessions with internal and external staff who kindly attended these interviews, checked resumes and provided feedback to our students.

Apologies were received from Frances Crawford of Goodman Fielder and Christian Almeida from CUMMINS.

These interviews are based around their Career Portfolios containing: resumes, cover letters, biographies, workplace skills and reasoning on ‘Why they should get the Job’ to name a few. 

All our students did very well in presenting themselves for an interview with their updated resumes. They spoke with confidence to interviewers.   This experience has provided the students with something to refer to when preparing themselves for future interviews.

The industry feedback was invaluable for our Westall students with our interviewers being impressed with our students preparation. They did very well in presenting themselves and building a new kind of confidence. It really was a positive experience for both students and professionals alike - students gaining further experience and pointers, and interviewers enjoying very much the chance to ‘give back’ some of the help that they had gained over many years of hard work.
