We are now looking ahead to our 2027 SRC, with applications and position descriptions opening soon. We encourage students who are passionate about making a difference, representing their peers and contributing positively to Westall Secondary College to consider applying.

Over the course of Term 3, Divine and I have had the privilege of attending multiple Westall Partnership Group Meetings with Mr Tickner and members of Kingston City Council.
We admittedly walked in the room fairly nervous the first time. However, it only took a second for us to feel welcomed by these wonderful people with a true passion for bettering our community. This meeting specifically focused on language barriers within the community and ways to tackle this problem to bring the community closer together. Knowing this, Divine and I felt we had valuable input from our perspectives as students that would bring new ideas to light.
Being included in these meetings also gave us great insight into the problems that our council and various other organisations focus on. Being able to see the passion in which they hold towards creating a better community strengthened our connection to both the council as a school, and also as a community. Having our voices being heard and taken into account allowed us to realise how crucial student input is in the growth of our community. We appreciate the opportunity to be involved in these meetings and look forward to learning more about our community and exercising student voice more in the future.

Wear It Purple Day at Westall Secondary College
On Friday 28 August, Westall Secondary College came together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day, a day that celebrates our LGBTQIA+ community and promotes pride, acceptance and inclusion. It was a great opportunity for students and staff to come together and show their support while creating a positive and welcoming environment for everyone. The celebrations took place around the arena and outside the SLC, with lots of activities for students to get involved in during lunch. There was a purple and pride-themed bake sale, a photo booth hosted in the SLC, jewellery making, badge making and a 3-point contest. Students could also participate in mini games, with the chance to win a lucky dip prize, as well as enjoy some fun face painting.
As School Captains and members of the Wellbeing and Inclusion team, we were really happy to help support the day and see so many students getting involved. It was especially nice seeing students spending time with their friends, taking photos, creating their own badges and enjoying the different activities. The bake sale was also a big highlight, with lots of students enjoying the delicious food and treats.
What made the day even more special was seeing different parts of our school community come together. Wear It Purple Day was not only about having fun and participating in activities, but also about reminding everyone that they have a place within our school community and should feel comfortable being themselves.
The day also reminded us that inclusion and acceptance should not be limited to one day. Small acts of kindness, respect and support can make a big difference in helping others feel safe and valued at school. A huge thank you to all the students and staff who helped organise and support the celebrations, as well as everyone who came along and participated. It was wonderful to see the Westall community come together, have fun and celebrate diversity and inclusion.
