Year 4 News

Welcome to Week 8!
As writers, students have been exploring narrative writing, focusing on creating tension-filled scenes and using dynamic dialogue to strengthen their storytelling. Through these experiences, they are learning how to craft engaging and purposeful texts that capture a reader’s attention.
As a catholic learning community, we have been learning about the Eucharist in preparation for this important sacrament. Students are deepening their understanding of its meaning and significance within our faith community.
As Mathematical thinkers, we have begun a unit on data interpretation. Students are developing skills in viewing, analysing, and selecting the most appropriate graph for different scenarios. They are working with column graphs, pictographs, and infographics to represent and interpret data effectively.
As inquirers, students have begun exploring their historical figures, focusing on perspective and how Australian history can be understood through different viewpoints. This has encouraged critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of history.
During our incursion, we invited a special guest to share their culture with us. We listened to traditional Torres Strait Islander songs and Indigenous songs from her Country. We explored the importance of Ochre in storytelling and dance, and made further connections to our learning of National Reconciliation Week.
