We pray for all the children who are receiving Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time. This weekend. Fill their hearts with joy, love, and peace as they welcome Jesus into their lives in a special way. Help them to grow in faith, kindness, and compassion, following the example of Jesus each day. Bless their families, teachers, and parish community who have supported them on this important faith journey. May this celebration strengthen their friendship with You and inspire them to share Your love with others. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Sacrament of Eucharist Celebration

This Saturday the 13th June at 6.00pm, our school community will gather to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist. This is a significant and joyful occasion in the faith journey of our Year 4 students as they receive the Eucharist for the very first time. As a school community, we keep all of the children and their families in our prayers as they continue their preparation and celebrate this important sacrament.  We ask that all children and their families are seated in the allocated seat by 5.50pm for celebration to start at 6.00pm

St Fidelis choir

The St Fidelis School Choir will lead the music at the 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 13th June, as our parish community gathers to celebrate the Sacrament of Eucharist. We are proud of the children for generously sharing their musical talents  through song, helping to create a prayerful, joyful, and memorable celebration for all who attend.  The choir children are asked to arrive at the church by 5.50pm to prepare for Mass.

Eucharist retreat day

All Year 4 students are invited to participate in a special Retreat Day at St Fidelis on Friday 12th June. The retreat will be led by Father John Vespa from Catholic Vocations. The students will have the opportunity to step away from their usual daily routine and reflect more deeply on their faith journey.

Throughout the day, students will engage in a range of meaningful activities including prayer, reflection, discussion, and quiet time, all designed to support them in developing a deeper understanding of the sacrament they are preparing to receive. Father John Vespa will guide the students through faith-filled experiences that encourage them to think about the importance of the sacrament in their lives and strengthen their relationship with God and others.

The retreat will also provide opportunities for students to ask questions, share their thoughts, and grow in their understanding within a supportive and welcoming environment. Lunch will be provided for all Year 4 children and they can wear casual clothes on the day.

Celebrating mass

This Thursday, 11th June, students from Year 4ZK and 1AM will attend Mass as part of their faith formation journey.  We warmly invite parents and carers to join us for this special celebration. Your presence helps strengthen the connection between home, school and parish, and supports our students as they grow in faith. We look forward to sharing this meaningful occasion with you.

Serve at the Altar

We invite young people in our parish to become Altar Servers , a special way to serve God and our community at Mass.

Altar Servers assist the priest and take part closely in the liturgy, growing in faith, confidence and teamwork while building friendships along the way. It is a meaningful leadership role where young people can deepen their love of the Eucharist and grow in service of others. No experience is needed — training will be provided.

Young people from Year 4 and above who have received First Eucharist are welcome.Join us and be part of something special!

The following schedule outlines the allocated times for each class to participate in Mass and other prayer experiences.

We warmly invite parents and carers to join us whenever possible, as your presence helps to enrich these special occasions and strengthens the partnership between home, school, and parish.

What’s happening in Religious Education at St Fidelis Year 2

The Year two students have been exploring a variety of Scripture readings and making meaningful connections between the teachings of Jesus and their own everyday experiences. Through discussion, reflection, and shared learning, students have been developing a deeper understanding of how Scripture guides us to live with kindness, compassion, and respect for others.

As part of National Reconciliation Week, the students reflected on and unpacked the parable of the Good Samaritan. Through this Scripture story, they explored the importance of forgiveness, showing kindness to others, and helping those in need. Students discussed how the Good Samaritan demonstrated care, compassion, and respect towards each other.

Throughout Reconciliation Week, students also deepened their understanding of the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. They participated in learning experiences that highlighted the importance of respect, inclusion, and reconciliation, while recognising the rich cultural heritage of Australia's First Nations Peoples.

To conclude their learning, students reflected on what they had discovered about caring for others, respecting differences, and valuing Country. They then worked collaboratively to create and document their own class Acknowledgement of Country, expressing their appreciation and respect for the Traditional Custodians of the land and their ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community.

This week, the students will continue exploring the importance of the Eucharist by engaging with a range of Scripture readings that deepen their understanding of this sacred sacrament. These scriptures include the feeding of the five thousand and the last supper. They will investigate the symbols associated with the Eucharist and reflect on their significance within the Catholic tradition. Students will also examine the different parts of the Mass, unpacking their meaning and purpose. Through these learning experiences, they will develop a deeper understanding of what the Eucharist is and why it is such an important part of the faith life of Catholic people.

God bless and have a great week.
