Learning Diversity

Program Support Group (PSG) Meetings
At St. Fidelis, we value strong partnerships with families. Working together helps us create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child is known, understood, and given opportunities to succeed.
To support students who may require additional adjustments or targeted support, we use a process called a Program Support Group (PSG).
A Program Support Group is a team that works together to support a student's learning and wellbeing. The group may include parents/carers, school staff, the student (where appropriate), and sometimes external professionals who are involved in supporting the child.
The PSG meets regularly to discuss the student's strengths, needs, progress, and goals, ensuring everyone is working together to provide the best possible support.
Who might have a PSG?
A PSG may be established for students who:
- Require additional adjustments or interventions to support their learning.
- Need ongoing monitoring of educational programs or support strategies.
- Have experienced significant changes in their circumstances.
- Have identified learning, social, emotional, behavioural, health, cultural, or wellbeing needs.
- Have recommendations from medical or allied health professionals.
- Are new to the school and require coordinated support.
What does a PSG do?
PSG allows us to:
- Celebrate student strengths and achievements.
- Identify areas for growth and development.
- Review progress towards learning and wellbeing goals.
- Discuss adjustments and support strategies.
- Develop and review Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and other relevant plans.
- Share information from families, teachers, and specialists.
- Ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to supporting the student.
Parents and carers play an important role in the PSG process. Your insights and knowledge of your child help us develop meaningful goals and effective support strategies that enable your child to thrive at school.
