Level 6

We're a great mix in Level 6!

Level 6

We are already halfway through Term 2, and the Level 6 students have been busy with a wide range of learning and experiences. Many students have shown dedication to our school production, regularly attending lunchtime rehearsals and enthusiastically practising their roles. Not long to go now!

Reading

In Reading, we have been practising a range of comprehension strategies, with a focus this term on skills requiring analysis and creativity. These include tracking themes and consequences in literature, analysing characters’ motives and choices, and taking on the perspective of other characters to rewrite scene from narratives.

Writing

In Writing, we have worked through the writing process to complete persuasive pieces and will soon shift our focus to explanation texts. During our work on persuasive writing, we placed a strong focus on the revising stage of the writing process. Students refined pieces they had already drafted, for example, incorporating counterarguments where appropriate to strengthen their position, and by using persuasive devices effectively and purposefully, ensuring they added credibility to an argument rather than detracting from it.

Maths

In Mathematics, we have been learning about area and perimeter, including calculating the area of circles. To conclude the unit, students will take part in a zoo design project, where they will investigate the space needs of different animals and create a scaled map using a grid to plan their zoo layout.
