Dear Warrandyte High School Community
As we approach the conclusion of Term 2, it is an opportune time to reflect on what has been another successful semester at Warrandyte High School. Across the school and the wider community, our students have continued to demonstrate our school ‘RISE’ values that make our school such a special place to learn.
Over the past fortnight, our Year 9-12 students have completed their Semester 1 examinations, while our Year 12 VCE and VM students, along with students undertaking a Unit 3-4 study, completed the General Achievement Test (GAT). Examinations provide an important opportunity for students to consolidate their learning, demonstrate their knowledge and develop valuable skills in preparation, organisation and resilience. I would like to congratulate all students for the mature and positive manner in which they approached this important period of the school year and thank our staff for their support and preparation.
One of the undeniable highlights of the term has been our school production, Beauty and the Beast Jr. The talent, dedication and commitment displayed by our students both on stage and behind the scenes was truly outstanding. The production showcased not only exceptional performance skills, but also the confidence, teamwork and creativity of our students. Thank you to our cast, crew, staff, parents/carers and volunteers who contributed to making the production such a memorable success.
The final week of term will provide further opportunities for student learning beyond the classroom. Our Year 9 students will participate in City Experience, while our Year 10 students will undertake Work Experience placements across a wide range of industries and workplaces. Both programs provide valuable opportunities for students to develop independence, build confidence and gain important insights into the world beyond school.
Semester 1 reports will be made available to families on the final day of term. Reports provide an important snapshot of student achievement, effort and progress across the semester and offer an opportunity for students and families to celebrate successes while identifying future goals for growth and improvement.
As we reach the midpoint of the year, I would like to sincerely thank all students for the many ways they have represented Warrandyte High School throughout the semester. Whether competing in interschool sport, performing in our school production, participating in excursions, camps, leadership activities or simply demonstrating our values each day in the classroom, our students continue to make us proud. Their willingness to embrace challenges and contribute positively to our school community is greatly appreciated.
Finally, I would like to thank our staff and families for their ongoing support throughout what has been a productive and rewarding semester. I wish everyone a safe, restful and well-deserved break and look forward to welcoming students back for an exciting Term 3.
Warm regards
