Year 7 Boys Soccer
June 2nd 2025, this was the day Brinbeal Year 7 Soccer team set out for victory. The soccer tournament, a tournament where 6 schools competed to come out on top and go to the 2nd round of the tournament, district. Brinbeal's first match or the tournament had started, we started the game off quickly scoring two goals but the opposition striked back with 3, 3-2. With minutes to spare we scored, 3-3. In our 2nd game we destroyed Truganina, 4-0, putting us at 4 points. Bemin vs Truganina was the game that decided our fate. If Bemin bet Truganina 5-0, we would be out. 0-0 was the final score of the game, so we were into the finals. In the final we went all the way into extra time at 0-0, but in the last minute Yakub scored, 1-0 Brinbeal History.

Our boys had an exceptional day. In the first match we drew 3-3 against Bemin, it was a tough game but the boys pushed through. Then they played their second game against Truganina P-9, where the boys had an extraordinary game winning 4-1. Then we made it to the final against Hoppers Crossing, scored a last-minute winner to win the tournament.
Year 7 Girls Soccer
A tremendous effort from the year 7 girls soccer team. In difficult weather conditions and playing all their matches with one less player than the opposition; the girls managed to win 2 games and draw before losing in their final match.
They finished equal second, which equals an amazing effort given the circumstances. The girls displayed all the schools’ values during their games by showing respect to opposition, aspiring to achieve commendable results and performances and accepting their teammates who had a variety of playing abilities.
Well done girls!
Year 8 Boys Soccer
On Tuesday 10th June, the Year 8 Boys went out to compete in their Soccer Competition. The boys fought hard and played well but unfortunately ended the day with four defeats from four games. Despite having a difficult day, the boys showed the utmost respect to each of their opponents, and I could not be prouder of the way they conducted themselves. The highlight for me was the bus ride on the way back to school, hearing the boys joking around and laughing with each other. The resilience they showed in that moment to not let a difficult day damper their mood was special and something I commend each of them for. Well done boys for representing our school in such a positive way.

On Tuesday 19th of June, the Year 8 Boys Soccer Team had travelled to Alcock reserve, to play a series of matches against local schools, in fine hopes of advancing in the next stages of this tournament. Our first game was against Bemin Secondary College, it was a tough match, resulting us a loss. We then played The Grange, which although we had a fantastic chance of winning, we managed to completely muck it up and lose 2-1. After that, in our final game, we played Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College which in the end we managed to lose once again resulting in a 3-1 loss. In conclusion we managed to succeed, zero wins, and 3 losses but besides the negative attributes of this day, we still managed to put a huge amount of effort, and also tried our very best, and I personally do believe that we had the potential to win games in the upcoming future and be at top. Thank you for reading!!!

On the day we played 3 football games giving it our on the first match we were a bit rusty, but we got to know each other, even though we lost we gained more chemistry. On the second match we did much better getting a better result and effort. at the last match we didn't do as good because everyone was tired but we did really good in the end.

Regional Cross Country
On Thursday 19th June, 13 students travelled to Keilor Park to compete in the Western Melbourne Region Cross Country Competition. The bus ride was very long and everyone felt nervous as we arrived at the track. When I went to the start line I thought I wasn't going to qualify for the next round. As the race started I was in a good position, I felt good so I kept going. At the end I finished the race in 7th place qualifying for State in July. Everyone else competed well and represented Brinbeal's values throughout the day.

Regional Netball Year 7 Girls
On Wednesday the 25th of June the Year 7 Netball Girls headed out to compete in the Western Metropolitan Regions Competition. The girls were very elated after winning the last competition back in term 1 and continued to show commitment and growth by training each week leading up to regions.
On the day, the girls needed to be placed in positions that they may not have played before. All girls showed great resilience and were able to try their hardest. It was great to see the teamwork and sportsmanship from all the players and they each represented all the college values of Brinbeal Secondary College which made myself very proud that we represented the College in such a positive way.
I hope the girls continue to play and further develop their netball skills outside of school and look forward to trialling next year to represent the college again. It was also great to see the family members of the girls come and show their support and it really helped to energise and ignite some extra tenacity in the girls knowing that their families were there watching.
I am grateful to of been able to coach each and everyone of you, and I hope that we do just as well if not better next year!
Miss Genge
On the 25th of June we had our Western Metropolitan Division: Regionals.
We were able to verse many schools – and with that I can proudly say that we made these teams work hard for the ball. The teams that we versed and skill and communication, though I know that Brinbeal did their best to get that ball back. We tried our best to turnover the game, but unfortunately, we didn’t get any wins, although we still got some points in. Our last game that we played we came back even stronger.
I enjoyed playing with this team, and I know that we can improve even more with practice. I’d like to say good job to everyone who played and we did a good job and put in lots of effort. I’d also like to thank Ms. Genge for her amazing coaching skills and pushing us to the limit, and I’d also like to thank Dan for giving us advice on how we can improve our passing and driving for the ball.
Good job, Brinbeal! There’s always next year.

Today the school netball team competed in Regionals coming back with unfortunately no wins, we tried our best and competed with our best foot forward. We gave our all during the rough games we played. I played WA, GK and mainly centre with no breaks. I managed to push through. In the last game we played, I played centre for all four quarters which left me feeling very drained and exhausted, which showed that I put all my energy into these games.

Today I felt excited to start playing this morning, when me and my team went against the first team we scored the first point, but then as we carried on we started losing hope as we continued playing round 1 and 2 we were stressed and we were losing, but we kept pushing through on our last round we were fdoing good and put lots of effort, we were doing good until the last game but we still continued playing and had good sportsmanship. We shook each teams hands and we were very kind.

Today we had our netball game. At the start we didn’t do as well as we did in our last game, but we came back stronger during our 3rd game, closing the gap within points. In my opinion I think we should focus more on the simple things. Again thank you to all who came and watched our game.
