Cadets Report

MAJ Byron

This Term we saw the end of the formal training for cadets which led into the two full Cadet days. The first of the two days the cadets were able to choose from various activities, such as abseiling, regaining, scuba diving and clay target shooting. Along with these activities each group also participated in team building activities and bush cooking. They enjoyed either pancakes or s’mores cones, both cooked over the open fires. Many cadets stepped out of there comfort zone and pushed themselves to do something that they wouldn’t normally do. It was great to see the stories, smiles and laughter after they participated in their chosen activity.

The second full Cadet day was held at school. The hotly contested Interplatoon challenge was run. Although the weather wasn’t on our side the senior leaders quickly adjusted their activity to ensure that cadets would stay dry. Each Platoon was tested on their drill, navigation, radio communications, first aid, field engineering and cadet general knowledge. There was a very high standard throughout the competition with the results coming down to the drill section and only a few points between first and second. The winner of the Interplatoon Challenge will be announced at the Ceremonial Parade on 25th October.

Next term we will be finalising our training with the lead up to Ceremonial Parade. The students and parents have been emailed the information on what is happening:
