The joy of finding ourselves at the end of a long and busy term, with the possibility of a glorious holiday in Spring before us.  This is where we are today with hearts abounding with love, gratitude, and a fair sprinkling of blessed relief.

Our final commitment to the Uniting Church here in Hamilton took place on Tuesday September 10th. Mrs Helen Wilkin and her wonderful Year 9 volunteers cooked up a glorious batch of spectacular cupcakes for dessert that were served with lashings of strawberry infused cream. The Boarder’s kitchen provided the main meal - savoury meatballs with mash and peas.  By all accounts the local people attending enjoyed it immensely. Our team served 25 lunches on this day which is a wonderful effort.  We have served cupcakes before and owing to their popularity decided to serve them a second time.

A lovely story from the day by Pippi Mellington.

On the 10th of September, myself and four others went to the Uniting Church to provide a meal for people in need in our community. Today, there was a boy with his mother and sister, who came in for lunch. The mother informed us that tomorrow (the 11th) was that boy's birthday. Of course, we had saved an extra cupcake for him. As they were leaving, I handed them the extra cupcake and wished him a happy birthday, to which he then hugged me and told me to have a good day.

The highlight of my day was not baking cupcakes with my friends or getting KFC on our way back to school; it was the joy that came with making his birthday an enjoyable day and the hug he gave me as thanks.

Mission Fair Day

This annual day of Fundraising found Mrs Herrmann and I operating an Op shop here in the Library.  We began on Wednesday with many students finding a purchase amongst the Treasures on offer.  Earlier this year a Staff member gifted the Library a very large collection of wonderful caps.  These have been so popular with the Students and have simply flown out the door.

The Cap collection
Xander McIntosh, Year 8, Taylor Crane, Year 9 and Chief Hutchison, Year 7
Landon Sternberg, Oliver Homer, Liam Keeble, Connor Gordon, Jonathan Bell, (partly obscured and wearing a cap) and Tex McSwain

Thank you staff and students for a wonderful Term in our beloved Library.

Enjoy the coming holiday time, find some time for pursuits that make your hearts sing.
