Teen Mental Health First Aid- Instructors
Congratulations to two of our Wellbeing Hub team, Belinda Carroll and Matthew Crane, who both recently completed intensive training to become Teen Mental Health First Aid Instructors. Belinda has already delivered a course at Good Shepherd College to their Year 8 cohort, and we will be rolling out our delivery of the program at Monivae in Term 4. More information will be provided on this for Year 8 and Year 10 families next term.
Belinda and Matthew both received funding to complete this training through the Southern Grampians Live4Life program.
Wellbeing Leaders Network Meeting
Monivae were thrilled to host the DOBCEL Wellbeing Leaders Network Meeting on Thursday 19th September. Over 20 Wellbeing Leaders and staff from various schools such as Emmanuel College, Mercy Regional College, St Jospeh’s College Mildura came to Monivae to have a tour, hear about our unique MSC environment and the proactive wellbeing work happening currently at Monivae. We heard from guest speaker Jane Langley about the importance of restorative practices, Dee Barrera and some of our students and mentors from Standing Tall, and were guided on an entertaining tour of the school from Mr Terry Molan. This was a great opportunity to showcase Monivae and the great work happening every day.
RUOK? Day
Students enjoyed an ice cream and conversations around mental health awareness on RUOK?Day, last week, Thursday 12th September. Thanks to our fabulous Year 10 student helpers who served up around 300 ice-creams to our students.
Standing Tall celebration picnic
Students and their mentors enjoyed a picnic at the Hamilton Botanical Gardens last week (albeit chilly and wet) to celebrate the end of Term 3. It was a lovely chance to catch up with their mentors outside of the school environment and enjoy some delicious hot chips and other treats.
We are hoping to have 13 participants in the Standing Tall program in Term 4. The Monivae program continues to be the largest in the region.
We wish all students and their families a restful and safe holiday break. Take the time to recharge those batteries, and we will see you all back for another big term.
