Senior School

Term 3 has been a busy one in Senior School, particularly for our Year 12 students. As these students finished off the last of the new content in their subjects and their final SACs, attention is now turning towards the end of year exams. The upcoming holidays are an invaluable time for our students to start setting up routines around their study and to prioritise areas that require extra focus. All teachers will be encouraging their students to be completing practice exams over the holidays to prepare for the mock exams at the start of next term. All students have been sent the mock exam timetable. A reminder that the English Domain is running a compulsory English practice exam on Monday 23 September (first Monday of the holidays) and an optional practice exam on Friday 4 October (second Friday of the holidays). In addition to the practice exams there will be a series of revision seminars next term (run by Connect) that students will have signed up for running over the first couple of weeks. For our Year 12 students and families, please see the news feed on Compass for details around important dates for next term.

Valedictory Dinner tickets are now on sale. The closing dates for purchasing these tickets is Monday 7 October so please make sure you have booked before this date if you intend to participate in what should be a great night of celebrating our graduating class of 2024.

Our Year 11 students are currently working their way through their Unit 2 subjects. Classes finish at the end of week five next term for these students and they will then start their Unit 2 exams in week six. Our Year 10 students complete their classes at the end of week six before they start their exams in week seven.

We were lucky this week to have Ben Pettingill present to our Year 12 students.  Ben's message of resilience is very timely for our cohort.  Ben’s story of facing adversity (losing 98% of his vision overnight) and focusing on what you can control rather than what you can’t was a powerful message as our students look within for motivation as they make their final push to exams.

I hope you all enjoy the holidays and we look forward to welcoming you back for a big Term 4!
