Much fun was had with the Olympics being played on the big screen everyday; students had the opportunity to request events to watch with swimming, gymnastics and track and field being the most popular. It was very busy most of the time, the photo below does not do it justice (first day) safe to say I was too excited watching it with the students to take photos.
Every now and then a set of books comes along that is simply stunning. DK’s Ancient Myths series presents engaging retellings of the myths for a contemporary audience – including both well-known classics as well as lesser-known stories. Thoughtful reference sections and pronunciation guides are also included in each of the volumes.
Manga continues to be one of the most popular collections in the library so why not add to it; I am always on the look out for manga that is different from what we already have. Hopefully these new titles are a hit: Doomsday with my dog and Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Manga – Book of Heartslabyul.
Our book collection is forever changing to meet the needs of the staff and students, makes sense that we change the shelving to match. Some of the non-fiction shelving was over 40 years old, possibly the original shelving so could have been older. It looks amazing, even I want to work up the back now, if you can't find me it's a good place to start looking anyway!
Allen & Unwin book publishing were giving away 25 copies of this book. So with 25 words or less (don't ask me what I said as I can't remember hahaha) I won the competition, how fabulous. I have given them to the Science Domain where they will be used in many different ways, the information and the format of the book makes it an exciting inclusion to the school.
The libraries instagram page is a great one stop shop for new books, trending titles, a few pictures of students and library & school antics in general; nudging 1000 followers........
