Preps Easter Visitor Surprise

End of Term 1

Slime Science Fun! 

This term, our Preps have been having a wonderful time in Science lessons.  As part of our Unit of Inquiry, “Senses help people express their ideas,” we explored the science behind making edible slime. The students were so excited when we visited the Science room, where Mrs. Jones guided us through the steps of making our very own icky, sticky slime! 

First, we microwaved marshmallows for one minute, watching as they changed from squishy to soft and melted. Then, we added cornflour and icing sugar to create the slime’s perfect consistency. 

The best part? We got to use all five senses to explore the slime! The Preps noticed it was pink in colour, smelled sweet, and felt sticky and gooey. It even made popping noises as we played with it, and, of course, we couldn’t resist having a little taste – and it was delicious! 

Our little scientists looked very professional in their lab coats, ready for the experiment. A big thank you to our parent helpers for joining in and assisting on the day! 

Mothers and Special Friends Celebration 

Last Wednesday afternoon, we had an amazing time celebrating Mother’s Day with our mums and special friends at school. After lunch, they came to the Prep Learning Centre, and we couldn’t wait to show them all the fun activities we had planned!

The classrooms looked beautiful, decorated with bright tablecloths and flowers in vases. Each of us made a special card and a heart-shaped craft for our mums or special friends to keep forever and we gave them a love heart chocolate as a sweet treat to show how much we care. 

We had a range of activities for our mums and special friends to enjoy. Some of us gave our mums hand massages, applied hand cream, and painted their fingernails. A few children even helped their visitors with makeup, applying eye shadow, blush, and lipstick.

There were also plenty of other activities to keep everyone entertained. We made bracelets with beads and charms, played Maths games, built things with Lego, and created flower bouquets using craft materials. It was wonderful to see everyone having fun and spending time together. 

We loved spoiling our mums and letting them know how much we appreciate them!
