Aerobics
National Championships
From Thursday 8 August to Sunday 11 August, the Aerobic squad competed in the TFT National School Aerobics and DanceStar Championships, against the top competitors from all around Australia.
Throughout this past year and from October last year, all members of the MGSC aerobics squad have been working extremely hard to reach nationals, and although some didn’t qualify, our squad as a whole has reached an incredible achievement in itself by working as a community to motivate each other to do individual PB’s. As aerobics captain I’d love to highlight the immense effort our squad puts in; the morning training bright and early before school, extra lunch time and after school training, home training, as well as team and coach bonding, and parent involvement. It all contributes greatly to the result and on behalf of the aerobics squad we are grateful for the support from all!
Over the four days, our squad achieved many goals, and whilst we all hope for a medal, some do, but we all leave the arena with the simple achievement of performing in front of a panel of judges and a crowd at a national level competition. The pressure and confidence it takes is an experience that will empower the students to propel themselves to future endeavours that take courage, resilience and great effort, which proudly demonstrates our school values.
What else is upcoming?
Now that nationals is complete, the competitors have taken a break and are getting back into training in preparation for the upcoming Spring Challenge which is in mid October. This is an additional competition for all to compete in their section or a higher level section (depending on their national result) to close the year as well as building their experience of on stage performances.
At an upcoming College Assembly two of our elite soloists will be performing, Grace and Tara Ash, to showcase their routines as well as Bella Cooper’s lyrical solo that received first place at Nationals.
We also have our tryouts for 2025 coming up on 24 October 24. Please keep your eyes open on your emails if you plan to tryout to aerobics or dance!
Please continue to show your support until the upcoming Spring Challenge and congratulate the students on the aerobics achievements from 2024!
