Out and About

CERES Community Environment Park

This week Food Studies students were lucky enough to visit CERES Community Environment Park, a non-profit organisation that aims to organically grow and source vegetables for the community.

The VCE Food Studies class enjoyed learning about Indigenous plants and caring for a sustainable garden, as a continuation of what we had been learning in class. Some activities we did were feeding the local chickens, planting our own warrigal greens, sourced directly from CERES, and tasting organic leafy veggies. I would suggest both Food Studies as a subject and this excursion to other students as it was a way to get a hands-on approach to learning about how clean foods are sourced and consumed.

10/10 would recommend it to other students!

Year 9 Kayaking Excursion - Outdoor Education

On Tuesday 20 August, one of the Year 9 OED classes embarked on a kayaking excursion around Sandringham Harbour. Despite the cold and windy weather, the students’ excitement was palpable as they took to the water. The excursion provided a hands-on learning experience, with students observing the effects of wind on the waves and exploring how the rock groynes play a crucial role in protecting our beaches and harbour. The trip was a success, with students gaining valuable insights into coastal dynamics while enjoying the thrill of paddling in challenging conditions.
