Interschool Competition

Term 3 has been a busy time for interschool competition with many teams, in various sports, from Year 7 to Senior level progressing from the Beachside level to Southern Metro Region finals.
It is a feature of the program is that not just Health and PE staff lead the interschool competition program at MGSC. Teachers from all Domains are involved to trial, train and accompanying students to Round Robin days. They are assisted by students coaches and Education Support staff. Thank you to everyone that contributes to supporting our students.
A highlight was the achievements of the Year 7 Soccer team who made it to School Sport Victoria's State Finals. Here is their story.
Year 7 Soccer Second in State
On Thursday 3 September, the Year 7 Soccer Team embarked on their state title campaign. After successfully taking out both the Beachside Division as well as the Southern Metro Regional titles, they earned their place in the top 8 in Victoria.
Starting strong in our first game against Bendigo South, we came away with 3 goals to 0 win, with Grace K scoring 1 and Katie A putting 2 into the back of the net.
In our second game against Trinity College Colac , the team continued to fight hard, with Alexis K scoring 2 goals to help secure another great result.
Our third game was against Coburg High School, where Katie A once again opened our scoring before Mila K finished off with another powerful strike, culminating in yet another 2-0 clean sheet win for MGSC.
After an incredible run through the competition, we made it all the way to the State Final! Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result we were hoping for, going down 0-3 to a well drilled Western Heights College .
A huge congratulations to the whole team – MGSC is very proud of your achievements.
