Year 8 Day

Year 8 Day was a fantastic way to celebrate how far we have come throughout the year. It gave everyone the opportunity to relax, have fun, and spend quality time together outside of our usual school routine.
As the Year 8 Captains, we were lucky enough to host the Talent Show, which was definitely one of the highlights of the day. We got to see so many amazing and creative performances from our year level, and we finished the show with an exciting dance off that had everyone laughing.
We also had a trivia competition, hosted by Ms Molina, which brought out everyone’s competitive side! There were plenty of laughs and friendly competition. I really enjoyed working in a team with my friends and cheering for every correct answer. It was a great way to get everyone together.
One of the most relaxing parts of the day was watching a film while enjoying some popcorn. It was the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax, and laugh with our friends after a busy year!
The Black Dog Institute’s Mental Fitness program talked to our year level about looking after our own wellbeing and supporting the people around us. It was a meaningful session, and it was especially fitting that it took place on R U OK? Day, reminding us of the importance of checking in with ourselves and others.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be Year 8 Day without food! We finished the day with a BBQ next to the oval, which was a great way to come together, enjoy some food, and finish the celebrations.
Overall, Year 8 Day was filled with lots of fun. As the Junior School Captains, we were incredibly proud to help organise and run the day. It was amazing to see everyone making memories together. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!
