What a fantastic term it has been for our Grade 6 students! We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break, takes some time to relax, recharge and have lots of fun with family and friends.

We can’t believe that when we return, we’ll be heading into our final term of primary school! There is so much to look forward to, and we are excited to make every moment count. Term 4 is sure to be one to remember. Get ready, Grade 6, your final primary school adventure is about to begin!

Can all grade six students bring in a favourite picture story book to share with the grade for the beginning of next term.

Literacy

The students have done an excellent job learning all about colonial life and Federation. Quiz your child and see if they know what year Federation occurred. 

Next term, we will continue our Memory Book work but will also begin a novel study about The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan. We will be exploring themes and symbolism as well as comparing the short film with the text. We look forward to starting this engaging unit with the students. 

Mathematics 

This coming in term in maths, students will be consolidating the four operations. They will tackle a variety of worded problems they require them to follow problem solving strategies. They will also begin to explore the Cartesian Plane and plot shapes on the four quadrants. 

Wellbeing

Next term, our Grade 6 students will be continuing their learning through the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program, focusing on Topic 8: Positive Gender Relations. Students will explore respectful relationships, challenge stereotypes and consider how we can promote equality, inclusion and positive interactions with others. These important discussions encourage students to reflect on their own attitudes and behaviours and develop the skills needed to build healthy, respectful relationships now and into the future. 

Division Gymnastics

Congratulations to all the students who went to the division gymnastics. They came 3rd overall and were also the recipients of the ‘SSV School Spirit Award’ for respect, integrity and leadership. Well done!
