Literacy
This week, we have been learning the digraph ‘th’. Students have been practising reading and writing words such as this, that, then, thin and with. We have also been using these words to write simple sentences, such as “The thin cat is there.”
Our new mentor text is ‘Are We There Yet?” by Alison Lester. The story follows eight-year-old Grace and her family on an epic caravan journey around Australia. Taking a term off, they travel through the outback, camp in the bush, and visit landmarks like Uluru, all while little brother Billy relentlessly asks the title question. It is a warm celebration of Australian geography and family bonding.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, we have been learning to subitise to quickly identify the number of objects in a collection without counting them one by one. We have also been exploring different ways to split collections into groups of up to 20. Students have been learning to:
- Split a collection into groups.
- Identify and describe groups that are equal and unequal.
Applied Mathematics
In Applied Mathematics, we have been learning to sort collections into two groups and identify which group has more or less. We have also been learning to answer questions about data presented in two groups.
As a class, we created a whole-class graph and each student drew a picture to contribute to our graph. We then used the graph to answer questions and compare the data.

Reminders
Satchels and Home Reading
Please ensure your child brings their satchel to school each day. To borrow a new coloured decodable book, your child must first return their current book. Once all boxes on the home reading sheet have been completed, please see your classroom teacher to collect a new sheet.
There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home. Here is a link to assist with reading: Reading at Home

Dojo Rewards
Congratulations to all students who have achieved their Gold Award (250 points). Certificates will be presented during assembly. Students will choose their reward in consultation with their teacher.
Footy Day
We had a marvelous time celebrating our annual Footy Day! The children enjoyed parading in their team colours and completing a fun footy-themed booklet in the classroom on Friday. It was a fantastic day filled with team spirit and excitement!
School Concert
What a magnificent experience our school concert was for our Foundation students! The children spent so much time practicing their songs in preparation for the big night, and when the day finally arrived, they truly shone on stage! They looked fabulous in their costumes and confidently performed their songs for our families. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and confidence they showed throughout the performance.
A huge thank you to all our Foundation families for your wonderful support and for helping to prepare the magnificent costumes. We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!
