Year 8 German ‘Guten Appetit’ unit

Ms MacLean

Teacher LOTE & EAL

The students of two year 8 classes tried a variety of German foods, including Sauerkraut, Kransky sausages, Swiss Chees and Spekulatius (spiced biscuits).  The discussion included which foods they preferred and which ones they didn’t like. Using expressions such as ‘lecker’, ‘ecklig’ and ‘das schmeckt’ (yum, yuck and tasty), salzig, süß, sharf und sauer (salty, sweet, spicy and sour) as well as ‘danke’ and ‘bitte’ (thank you and please).  The Sauerkraut was an acquired taste, and the biscuits a definite favourite.
