NAIDOC Week celebrations saw the return of the Kick like Buddy and Courtney / Shoot like Patty and Ally competitions as we promoted and recognised the outstanding contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made and continue to make in sport.

In footy, first place went to Chris M, 48 metres (yes, that’s correct! 48!) and Gemma F, 26 metres. Runner-up prizes were awarded to Jayden and Harry.

Mr Greig took out the teacher’s prize with a 42-metre kick, and Mr Massouris was awarded the student's choice encouragement award for the ‘shortest-longest kick’.

In Basketball, Chace W shot nine goals from the free throw line in a minute, taking out the junior prize, and Soaib J came close with seven goals, taking out the senior award. Corey E and Ahmed B came in as runners-up.

Celebrations continued throughout the week with cupcake decorating, badge making, art, and the sharing of stories, with a fantastic week of celebrating 50 years of NAIDOC. Student highlights included face painting, collaborating on a shared artwork where Masha captured the essence of Uncle Archie Roach and imprinting some of our native plants from around the school into clay. Thanks to everyone who got involved in the celebrations this week- it was a fantastic way to start off the term!
