Year 12 Art Creative Practice MUMA Excursion
The Year 12 Art Creative Practice classes visited the MUMA exhibition to take part in a workshop with contemporary artist Nusra Latif Qureshi. Nusra is currently completing a residency at MUMA alongside a retrospective of her work in the gallery space. Our students were divided into two groups: one participated in the workshop led by Nusra, while the other took part in a guided tour of the exhibition. Students were inspired by learning about Nusra’s art-making process and her practice. The guided tour, meanwhile, focused on the terminology relevant to their Unit 4 work, allowing them to gain a wealth of information for the upcoming written components of their folios and SAC.
The artworks created in the workshop were then incorporated into a collaborative art piece with Nusra, to be featured in the gallery. In addition to this unique art-world experience, the day was a fantastic opportunity for students to get a taste of university life and engage in conversations about their post-schooling preferences.
Mrs Raymond and Mr MacLennan were incredibly proud of how the students engaged with the day, and the Monash University staff also expressed their admiration for how wonderful, respectful, and talented our students were.
Music
Our music students shone so brightly during their live performance at Cranbourne Shopping Centre, engaging with the public and presenting a series of beautiful pieces by vocalists Amelie, Rina, Masha and Ruby, pianist Yukina and the Chamber ensemble. We were thrilled to hear so many positive comments from patrons about the professionalism of our students during their 45 minute set. We are so proud of our students for representing the college in such a positive way to the broader public.
Victorian State School Spectacular
Two of our students, Sam Arancibia and Kasey Stiles-Harkin, have been selected to participate in the Victorian State School Spectacular. This incredible achievement involves an intensive rehearsal schedule that brings together a mass choir and mass dance form from Victorian school students and is set to hit the stage in September.
Congratulations to them both!
