Year 8 Leader of Learning
Term 3 has been an exciting and busy time for our Year 8 students. During Book Week, we were fortunate to host award-winning author James Phelan, who inspired our students with his stories and insights into the writing process. This invitation was also extended to some of our Year 7s, and it was wonderful to see so many students engage so thoughtfully with an accomplished Australian author.
Our Year 8s have also been involved in Subject Selections and the Subject Expo, preparing them for their transition into Year 9. It has been fantastic to see the excitement building as students begin to imagine their pathways and electives for next year.
Looking ahead, our Year 8s will soon immerse themselves in the Year 9 Connect program. This will involve meeting their Year 9 teachers, being introduced to their new learning space in A Building and becoming familiar with their electives, teachers and possibly new class peers. This transition program is designed to help our students feel confident and prepared for the next stage in their secondary journey.
We also want to take a moment to celebrate achievements within our cohort. The following students achieved a near-perfect GPA score this term, reflecting their strong work habits, performance and commitment to staying up to date in their studies:
Zahara Penarroyo (3.96)
Milad Ahmadi (3.96)
Shahla Jaghori (3.96)
Joseph Bleby (3.94)
Lukas Eldridge (3.94)
Phealyn Nuth (3.94)
Sania Mubshar (3.94)
Sovathana Lay (3.94)
Rasa Hossaini (3.93)
Atlanta Hartigan (3.92)
Insha Rahman (3.91)
Sophie Delbridge (3.91)
Raymond Ngov (3.90)
We are also proud to share that there has been a significant increase in consistent student attendance across Year 8. Attending school every day ensures students maximise their learning and personal growth opportunities, and it is pleasing to see so many families supporting this important priority.
Student Voice
Here’s what one of our Year 8 students had to say about recent experiences:“I really enjoyed the Subject Expo because it made me think about what I want to do in the future. It was helpful talking to different teachers and seeing all the options for Year 9. It made me feel more confident about what’s ahead.”
As always, we thank our Year 8 students, staff and families for their ongoing support and commitment.
