Year 12 Theatre Production

On Thursday 26th March the Year 12 Theatre Studies class presented their production of Children of the Black Skirt. As their teacher I’m obviously going to be proud of them regardless, but in this instance I can say without bias that they were wonderful!
The small cohort of students put the entire show together themselves, interpreting Ange Betzien’s script with originality and an incredible Australian Gothic aesthetic. A creepy, whispering sound design welcomed the audience. A fragmentary set suggested abandonment and allowed incredible silhouettes in conjunction with the atmospheric and moody lighting design. There were wonderful directorial and acting choices that immersed the audience in mystery and imagination. Thoughtful and fragmentary costume pieces suggested eras and allowed character transformation. Lastly, a beautiful, supportive audience allowed this cohort to proudly present their work.
Congratulations Unit 3 Theatre: it was wonderful!
